Easy Homemade Granola

There’s something especially nice about a jar of homemade granola sitting on the counter. It’s simple to make, smells wonderful while it bakes, and the flavor is so much better than most store-bought versions. You get to choose the ingredients, keep things wholesome, and adjust it exactly how you like it. Around here it ends up on yogurt, sprinkled over fruit, or eaten by the handful.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

This is the kind of recipe that becomes a quiet staple. It takes just a few minutes to mix together, uses straightforward ingredients, and keeps well for days. Once you start making granola at home, it’s hard to go back to the boxed kind. The flavor is fresher, the ingredients are better, and you can change it up depending on what you have in the pantry.

Ingredients Needed

  • Rolled oats
  • Nuts or seeds or coconut
  • Coconut oil
  • Honey
  • Maple syrup
  • Vanilla
  • Salt

Equipment Needed

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Microwave safe dish or saucepan(to melt the coconut oil)
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Wooden spoon or spatula

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 300°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats and any add-ins you’d like to use.

In a separate bowl or measuring cup, mix together the melted coconut oil, honey, maple syrup, vanilla, and salt.

Pour the liquid mixture over the oats and stir well until everything is evenly coated.

Spread the mixture evenly onto the prepared baking sheet.

Bake for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes so the granola toasts evenly.

Let the granola cool completely on the tray before breaking it apart.

Tips & Tricks

Stirring every 10 minutes helps the granola brown evenly without burning.

Letting it cool fully is what gives you those nice clusters.

If you like a slightly sweeter granola, add a handful of dried fruit after it cools.

Nuts like almonds, pecans, and walnuts work especially well here.

Store in an airtight jar so it stays crisp.

Storage & Leftovers

Store granola in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. A glass jar on the counter works perfectly.

Homemade granola is one of those small kitchen habits that just feels good to keep. It’s simple, dependable, and easy to make your own. Once you’ve baked a batch and smelled it coming out of the oven, it’s hard not to keep coming back to it.
