The BEST classic waffle recipe – crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, so easy to make from scratch. Perfect homemade waffles for breakfast or brunch, buttery and delicious!
Why Are These Waffles The Best?
In my opinion, easy, quick and lots of butter. Need I say more? Grab some simple, real food, ingredients. Perhaps enlist a little helper, the recipe is so easy even the kiddos can do it, and did I mention its scrumptious? Anything with lots of butter is just… better. They are fluffy and crispy at the same time, soaking in syrup perfectly while still holding their shape. No falling apart here. Hints of vanilla in every bite. These classic homemade waffles will be sure to please everyone!

These waffles are seriously to die for! They’ve become a family favorite and I kid you not, are requested every Saturday morning. Although, if It were up to my kids they would have them every day for breakfast!
Ingredients Needed
- Flour – All purpose, although I sometimes do 1/2 AP and 1/2 freshly milled Einkorn or Kamut
- Sugar – Organic Cane sugar is best
- Baking Powder – To help the waffles rise and make them fluffy
- Salt – Redmond Real Salt is the BEST
- Eggs
- Milk – I use Raw Milk although you can use any kind, dairy or non. Whole milk will give them a richer flavor!
- Butter – I use Kerrygold or the Kirkland brand grass fed
- Vanilla Extract – Don’t use imitation if possible, pure extract is best, homemade is top tier
- Cooking Spray – I use Graza

Equipment Needed
- Bowls – One for wet, one for dry, although if I’m being honest I usually throw it all in one
- Fork or Whisk
- Waffle Iron – Mine is super old but this one looks similar with great reviews – Waffle Iron
- Measuring Cups and Spoons

I hope you enjoy these waffles as much as we do!
FAQ
Q: Can I make these Gluten Free?
A: Absolutely! Just substitute the All Purpose flour for a 1:1 Gluten Free Flour
Q: Can I make these Dairy Free?
A: Sure, swap out milk for a non-dairy option. You’ll need to use a vegan butter as well. I haven’t tried using only oil or lard, I fear it may be too off putting.
