This easy fruit cobbler is one of those dependable recipes I come back to again and again. It’s simple, uses pantry staples, and works with just about any fruit you have on hand — fresh, frozen, or even pie filling.
Batter
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
Other
1/2 cup butter
3 cups fruit or pie filling
Place the butter in a baking dish and set it in the oven to melt while the oven preheats.
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and milk. Stir just until combined.
Carefully remove the baking dish from the oven once the butter has melted.
Pour the batter directly over the melted butter. Do not stir.
Spoon the fruit or pie filling evenly over the batter.
Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden and the cobbler is set.
Let cool slightly before serving.
